Situated in the Western growth corridor between Toowoomba and Brisbane, and the gateway to the resources hub of the Surat Basin; the Lockyer Valley is renowned as the 'food bowl' of the nation, and is ideally poised to provide the perfect work/life balance.

Boasting opportunities including low set up cost, easy access to major transport routes and land affordability, the Lockyer Valley is the perfect location for companies and busineses to establish, relocate or expand.  Lockyer Valley Regional Council is ready and open for your business.

With a population of around 35,000 and an estimated 3100 businesses, the Lockyer Valley is a vibrant region supporting 'A Growing Lifestyle'. The region has a wide range of diverse businesses, with our greatest asset being agriculture, farming and rural production. Digital infrastructure is already established in areas of the region, making the Lockyer Valley an ideal place for home-based business.

The University of Queensland Gatton Campus is located just off the Warrego Highway at Gatton and is world-renowned for its veterinary courses.  At present, there are 1400 students with 500 staff researching or studying agriculture, animals, veterinary science and the environment.  The region is also serviced by 26 public and private schools, 16 early childhood education and care services, two hospitals and more than 45 community run organisations.

A key future challenge for the region is managing the expected population and residential growth and maintaining viable agricultural activities that have long served the valley. It is projected that by 2031 around 63,000 people will call the Lockyer Valley home.

Gatton has been identified as the principal rural activity centre in the region for future growth in the business, retail and commercial, government and health sectors.  Laidley, Withcott and Plainland will grow to provide local services to supplement the role of Gatton.  The region also has boutique villages such as Forest Hill.
