Entries now open for Garden Competition
Committed gardeners of the Lockyer Valley know just how much time and effort goes into maintaining their prized possessions.
From weeding to mowing, watering to planting, it’s a labour of love.
With entries now open for this year’s Lockyer Valley Garden Competition, this is an opportunity for local green thumbs to receive a pat on the back from esteemed gardening experts.
Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said Council was pleased to this year introduce a new category, Best Patio/Unit Garden, in response to strong demand.
“A lot of our region’s elderly residents may have downsized to a smaller premises so we are thrilled to now have a category that caters just for these smaller gardens.
“This competition is about recognising our local garden lovers and, in the lead-up to the Laidley Spring Festival, getting the region looking better than ever.
“I would encourage those who have a passion for gardening to get their nominations in now,” Cr Hagan said.
Judging will be held over two days in late August, with great prizes up for grabs, including a $200 voucher for the Grand Champion and other impressive prizes for each category.
