​Your application is your opportunity to supply us with information regarding your skills, ability, knowledge and experience relevant to the position that you are applying for.

Cover Letter

Lockyer Valley Regional Council requires you to submit a covering letter with your application, stating the position that you are applying for.

Please ensure your cover letter is formatted in a PDF document. This document must be attached under the Job Attachments section of the online application made through Council's Recruitment Portal.

Resume

Lockyer Valley Regional Council requires you to submit a resume to apply for a position at Council. If you don’t have a current resume, your Office Word program has a built in resume template that can assist you. If you don’t have access to a computer where you are, you can access one of our community based computers situated at one of Council’s two libraries in either Laidley or Gatton.

Please ensure your resume is formatted in a PDF document. This document must be attached under the Job Attachments section of the online application made through Council's Recruitment Portal.

Key Selection Criteria

Lockyer Valley Regional Council may require you to address specific key selection criteria. Key Selection Criteria is a series of questions located in the Position Description document which is found in the Job Information Pack found on Council's Recruitment Portal. The answers to these questions form the basis of our shortlisting process and each question will be marked to help us in determining applicants for interviews.

Whether or not Key Selection Criteria is required depends on the type of position. As mentioned above Key Selection Criteria is found in the Position Description document with the Job Information Pack. Council will also specify on the fron page of the Job Information Pack as to whether or not Key Selection Criteria is required to submit an application.

When addressing the key selection criteria, it is important to you provide real life examples as evidence to demonstrate the skills, experience and knowledge you possess that is relevant to the advertised position. For further information on how to address Key Selection Criteria a 'How To' guide can be found on the last page of the information pack.

Again please ensure your key selection criteria is formatted in a PDF document. This document must be attached under the Job Attachments section of the online application made through Council's Recruitment Portal.

Note: Applications received that do not address the positions key selection criteria cannot be processed, as this criteria is essential to the assessment of applications.

Submitting Your Application

Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s preference is for applications to be submitted via:

Council's Recruitment Portal

Upon submitting an application you will be sent a series of emails from Council. One email will confirm your identity and another email will be to create your recruitment account. Both of these must be completed to successfully to submit your application. If these actions are not completed your application will not be accepted.

Once you have created a recruitment account with LVRC the first time you will not need to do this again. Upon open Council's Recruitment Portal you would simply 'Log On' and the system will then recognise you as a previous applicant and as such you will not be sent an email to register your account but you will still receive an email confirm your identity to confirm your application.

Privacy Collection Notice

All personal information provided by applicants is protected in accordance with the Council’s Privacy Policy and the Information Privacy Act 2009.

The information you provide as an applicant is used primarily by the selection panel to assess merit for a position. Access by other Council staff is limited to what is required to enable them to undertake associated administrative requirements, e.g. processing applications, arranging interviews and/or pre-employment assessments.

Recruitment Timeframes

As a guide, the process of shortlisting applications by the recruitment panel can take up to three weeks. Applicants that are successful in obtaining an interview will be contacted shortly after by telephone to make arrangements for an interview.

Applicants who have not been shortlisted for an interview will be notified in writing.
