Council is reviewing the region’s aquatic facilities and is inviting the community to provide feedback to help shape future planning and decision making.

Council invites residents to visit the Council Pop-Up at Soldiers Memorial Park, Helidon THIS Saturday, 11 April from 8.30am to 11.30am (subject to weather).

Roads named for new Gatton development

Councillors have given names to six new roads associated with Stage 1A of a residential subdivision at Rangeview Drive, Gatton.

• Road A – Sanctuary Avenue
• Road B – Babbler Way
• Road C – Pardalote Place
• Road D – Peregrine Court
• Road E – Oriole Circuit
• Road F – Corella Way

Council is responsible for assigning an official name to every gazetted road that is used to access properties, following suggestions from the developer.

Tree Management Policy adopted

Council has officially adopted a Tree Management Policy.

The Policy, adopted at Council’s March Council Meeting, recognises the value and important role of planting the right species of public trees throughout the region.

The new policy can be found on Council’s website under the Policies and Procedures page.

Cemetery Management Policy adopted

Councillors have approved an updated Cemetery Management Policy and Cemetery Management Procedure.

Both documents play a vital part in promoting a safe and respectful environment for all cemetery users and can be found on Council’s website.

Heritage Festival 2026

The Lockyer Valley Heritage Festival returns next weekend! Step back in time as you wander through the historical villages, explore vintage cars and farm machinery, experience the thrill of a haybale tractor ride or horse drawn carriage ride, watch blacksmith and sheep shearing displays, plus so much more!

Saturday 18 April in Laidley

Dog changes

Following community consultation earlier this year, Council has implemented rules to reduce the number of dogs allowed on certain properties after a rise in dog-related complaints and attacks.

The new provisions prohibit:

• keeping more than two dogs on lots less than 1500m2; and
• keeping more than three dogs on lots between 1500m2 and 4000m2.

These rules do not apply retrospectively, and Council does not expect people to get rid of their existing animals where those animals were being kept in compliance with the previous rules.

RADF applications open

If you’re interested in delivering arts and cultural projects in the Lockyer Valley - you can apply for funding to support your projects through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Lockyer Valley Regional Council.

This fund is designed to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland. Round 3 for 2025-26 is currently open for applications and closes 10am, Friday 24 April 2026.
