Laidley Pool closure
The Dal Ryan War Memorial Swimming Pool in Laidley is now closed under normal seasonal arrangements until the start of the next summer season, being September 2026.
Scam alert
The community is reminded to be wary of scam callers claiming to be conducting a survey on Council’s behalf. Council is currently NOT undertaking any phone surveys.
IF Council conducts a survey by way of phone call, we will promote the same via our social media pages, website and through media outlets.
If you field a call from someone claiming to be conducting a Council survey, and we haven’t advertised it formally on our Have Your Say page linked below, please hang up and don’t give out your details.

Council’s Libraries boast a whopping 61,365 items in their collection, up more than 500 items from last year. With almost 15,500 active members (also up by 1500 on 2025), including 202 new members, it is certainly a busy time for these important community facilities.
Flagstone Creek Road - culvert upgrade underway
The existing culvert on Flagstone Creek Road, Flagstone Creek has reached the end of its serviceable life. Council is funding the replacement of the culvert with a fit-for-purpose structure that meets legislative and environmental requirements, including Department of Agriculture and Fisheries waterway provisions.
Works will focus on the culvert crossing and adjoining road approaches to improve flood immunity, durability and motorist safety.
Construction is now underway and is expected to be completed within six to eight weeks, weather permitting.
Jones Road, Withcott upgrades
Council is constructing a new footpath on Jones Road, Withcott for the missing link between Parkridge Drive to Shorelands Drive.
Funded by the Australian Government’s Active Transport Fund (ATF), construction of this footpath segment will provide a continuous walking path along Toowoomba Connection Road to access the local shops, businesses and open spaces.
This ensures a safe and convenient walking space that is separated from the road, making it more accessible for people of all ages in the community.
Works are now underway and are expected to be completed within six to eight weeks, weather permitting.
Capital pavement rehabilitations
Council has completed pavement rehabilitation works on the following roads:
• Zabel Road, Lockrose
• Hawleys Road, Lake Clarendon
• Jew Road, Glenore Grove
These improvements enhance rideability and safety for motorists and cyclists, and extend the lifespan of the road surface, reducing deterioration and the need for frequent maintenance.

SES Controller needed!
South West Queensland SES is currently seeking applications for a Lockyer Valley Local Controller, who can provide leadership and support to a diverse volunteer team.
