Council to close part of William Kemp RV Park
Following concerns raised by Gatton Kindy with the inappropriate behaviour and proximity of some campers in William Kemp RV Park, Council will create an exclusion buffer zone in the William Kemp RV park area closest to the Kindy.
The area affected is the southern end of the RV park – being the area adjacent to the current solid fence and laneway.
We’ve deemed this closure necessary to mitigate potential risks to children, staff, and the wider community and to support a safe and appropriate operational environment adjacent to the kindergarten site.
Campers in that area will need to relocate to other parts of the park, or to other parks/towns if they choose. Council will install a temporary construction fence to mark the exclusion zone, which is expected to be in place for up to six months.
Council continues to liaise with Gatton Kindy and the local Police to ensure the safety of Gatton Kindy children, their families, and staff, without displacing homeless people in the general area.
Upcoming Community Tree Planting Day
Help support our local koala populations at our next Community Tree Planting Day!
Planting trees to boost koala habitat connectivity and strengthen our natural environment on Saturday, 9 May from 8am – 10am at Shorelands Drive Reserve, Withcott.
A free morning tea and planting equipment will be provided - just bring a hat, water and wear closed-toe shoes and outdoor-friendly clothing.
RSVP today by emailing communitywellbeing@lvrc.qld.gov.au. This event is supported by the Koala Habitat Restoration Partnership Program (KHRPP). The KHRPP is funded by the Queensland Government and implemented by Queensland Trust for Nature.

Laidley Pool closure
The Dal Ryan War Memorial Swimming Pool in Laidley is now closed under normal seasonal arrangements until the start of the next summer season, being September 2026.

The community is reminded to be wary of scam callers claiming to be conducting a survey on Council’s behalf. Council is currently NOT undertaking any phone surveys.
IF Council conducts a survey by way of phone call, we will promote the same via our social media pages, website and through media outlets.
