Grantham Siren testing postponed
The planned test activation of the Grantham Flood Warning Siren, originally scheduled for Monday 1 June at 12pm, is now postponed.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and will update the community when a new date is confirmed.
Changes to Gatton Showgrounds
Council has installed a temporary fence to reduce unauthorised access to the Gatton Showgrounds grandstand and will lock all external gates from Friday 29 May.
This change is necessary to deal with unauthorised camping and activities causing a range of issues with authorised bookings, as well as managing longer-term unauthorised use of various parts of the overall showgrounds.
Council has notified regular authorised showground user groups, including LifeFlight via Queensland Ambulance, Gatton, which will continue to have full access via provided keys.

Capital Pavement Rehabilitations
Council undertook pavement rehabilitation works on the following roads:
• Paroz Road, Laidley
• Ingoldsby Road, Ingoldsby
• Chadwick Road, Gatton
These improvements are important to ensure the safety of our motorists and cyclists. They also play an important role in extending the lifespan of our road network, reducing deterioration and the need for frequent maintenance.

Lockyer Valley Libraries’ number of active members continues to be on the rise, with the facilities recently clocking 15,565 active members.
Libraries’ collection now sits at 62,081 items, with the facility welcoming 120 new library memberships so far this year.
Upcoming Library Maintenance Day
Gatton and Laidley Libraries’ next Maintenance Day will be held on Wednesday 3 June, with both facilities to be closed on this day.
It’s an important day for staff, who will participate in staff meetings, professional development, tidying, shelving, moving, and general library maintenance.
Returns chutes will still be operational and you can visit our eLibrary 24x7.
Expression of Interest – Lockyer Valley Festival of Cultures
Council is seeking expressions of interest to hold activities, information stalls, cultural displays, or cultural performances at the upcoming Lockyer Valley Festival of Cultures.
The Festival will be held on Sunday, 9 August from 11am – 4pm at the Gatton Shire Hall.
The aim of the Festival is to celebrate all the region’s cultures and to promote intercultural connections.

Your Story Matters Writing Workshop
Join us at Gatton Library on Saturday 6 June for a memoir writing workshop with Natalie Stockdale – a Big Sky Publishing author who has spent decades living and working in rural and regional Australia.
Your Story Matters is a practical, warm, and deeply enjoyable half-day workshop designed for people who have never written a memoir before. Participants leave with a written scene from their own life – the beginning of their memoir.
WHERE: Gatton Library
WHEN: 9.30am – 2pm (including 30 minute break)

Community tree planting day a success
Council teamed up with Greening Australia, Resilient Rivers and Back to the Bush koala rehab recently for a community tree planting event at Lockyer Waters.
Nine hundred blue gum trees were planted - which will be used as future koala fodder, supporting local carers looking after koalas in need.
A bug thanks to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped!

Valley Markets and Events is returning as this year’s Festival Precinct Markets’ Coordinator and we’re on the lookout for passionate stallholders to help bring the event to life.
