OAM Author to visit Gatton Library
It’s one of the deadliest wartime attacks on Australia and next week, author Grantlee Kieza will visit the region to unpack his latest title, Ellen Savage and the Heroes of AHS Centaur.
With more than 20 highly acclaimed books to his name, Grantlee’s latest title tells the extraordinary true story of courage under fire and survival during the sinking of the hospital ship – the Centaur, and the bravery of its heroes.
Grantlee has held senior editorial positions at The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and The Courier-Mail and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his writing. He is a Walkley Award finalist, an ABIA shortlisted author for Biography, and an Age Book of the Year shortlisted author for non-fiction.
Council’s Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck encouraged residents to join in for a morning with the Brisbane-based author.

“These talks are a great way to find out the story behind the story, see the world from a different angle, or learn new things.
“This is such a moving story and I’m sure those in attendance will be able to connect with it even more.
“These sessions often provide opportunities for you to ask the author questions about their book and writing experiences and have the author sign copies of their book for you,” Cr Reck said.
