The Lockyer Valley was drought declared by Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries, Mark Furner in May 2018.
If a property has been individually drought declared or is within a drought declared area, the property owner can apply for Queensland Government drought assistance, including the Drought Relief Assistance Scheme (DRAS). DRAS provides subsidies on the transport of fodder and water for livestock during drought and returning from agistment and restocking in the recovery period, as well as the Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate to assist primary producers provide urgently needed water for animal welfare needs.
