Shop Local in the Lockyer Valley
Six reasons to shop local
You can make a difference by shopping locally - eat in a local cafe, use a local tradie or shop in a local shop.
Local businesses are important, they are convenient to visit, provide a personal service and stock a unique range of products and services. Local business owners do many things that support their local communities. Shopping locally is the best way to support local businesses and help protect what makes our region unique.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is proud to be a foundation sponsor of Your Town, a buy local promotion of The Lockyer and Somerset Independent newspaper, an initiative that helps to support local business.
Shopping locally is a powerful act - it not only supports local business but creates local jobs too.
The power of spending $10 locally
Shopping locally is a powerful thing to do, and changing where you spend your money can make a big difference.
If every Lockyer Valley resident over the age of 12 spent just $10 a week locally instead of outside the region, our local economy would grow by $26 million over just one year.
This economic boost would create more jobs, new business would open and existing ones would grow and prosper.
Everyone benefits when we all do our bit.
