This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, many in our community have been self-isolating, staying safe and spending time with only close family and members of the household. Seniors Week this year does look a little different, offering both events outside the home as well as some online activities that can be done from your sunroom!
We are excited to embrace the changes to the traditional Seniors Week and look forward to receiving your feedback on what is on offer this year. You can call the Events and Marketing Officer, Colleen Daniel on 1300 005 872 or email email@example.com.
This year, you can check out a Trash and Treasure where you are sure to grab a bargain; book for a Social Day with country music, morning tea and lunch at the Gatton COTA Seniors Centre or go to a Garden Tea Party at the Lockyer Community Centre. QPAC’s Drawn Together
invites people all over Queensland to share morning tea with friends and family, young and old, celebrating the powerful relationships that exist across generations. From the comfort of your own home, join the online morning tea as guests discuss the big, complicated and fun issues of our times.
If you enjoy online activities on your iPad or computer, check out the Be Connected website, which offers online games, trivia contests and learning sessions. Click here to visit the website page with the Topic Library.
Love listening to your favourite songs? Queensland Seniors Week is turning 60 this year and to celebrate they are creating a playlist of music on Spotify for everyone to enjoy. A playlist is simply a collection of songs and Spotify is a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs and other content from artists all over the world. To add your song to the list, visit their website here, and follow the links.
On the same website, you can choose from a wide range of virtual events on their Events page. Click here to check out the events. Just be sure to check which ones are either virtual (online via your computer, iPad or smart phone) or taking place in the Lockyer Valley.
Council is proud to support Seniors Week, which is all about promoting inclusiveness and providing an opportunity for seniors to connect with people of all backgrounds and ages.
Seniors Month events are open to residents of the Lockyer Valley aged 50 years and over.
Please note all events listed below have a COVID Safe Plan in place, will meet the requirements of restrictions currently in place and some will be taking bookings to secure a spot at the event.
