Swimming pools & spas
Swimming pool and spa fencing was amended in December 2009 and further amendments occurred in 2010 and 2012.
All swimming pools that are not a portable wading pools as defined in the Building Act (1975) need to have a compliant pool safety barrier and require a building permit.
A portable wading pool is:
- a pool capable of being filled with water to a depth of no more than 300mm and;
- has a volume no more than 2000 litres and;
- has no filtration system.
All swimming pools and spas are required to be registered on the QBCC Pool Safety Register.
Selling or renting a property with a pool will require a Pool Safety Certificate.
These can be obtained via Council's Pool Safety Inspectors or a private Pool Safety Inspector.
