School Holiday Programs

A number of services work closely with Council to offer a range of free school holiday programs. Holiday programs are primarily promoted on Council's Facebook the Lockyer Valley Youth Facebook, Luvyalockyer What's On website, and is distributed to schools for inclusion in their newsletters.

The range of holiday programs may include: 

  • Skateboard and scooter workshops and competitions
  • Family-friendly Dive-In (pool) Movies and Indoor Movies
  • Youth-only Dive-In Movies
  • Craft and games-based programs organised by Anglicare
  • Computer, robotics, Lego and craft activities organised by Lockyer Valley Libraries 
  • Adventure-based games and challenges (eg​, high ropes courses with Laidley District State School)​

Council aims to hold several skateboard and scooter workshops and competitions each year. Keep an eye on this page and Council's Facebook for dates. 

The latest skate competition was held on Saturday 11 August 2018 at Gatton Skatepark, attracted competitors from as far as Byron Bay and Noosa and offered a prize pool of $1,000. Winners qualified through to the finals for 2018 Mayoral competition in Toowoomba​ and the State Titles in Mackay.  ​​Check out the results, photos and video at https://www.facebook.com/LockyerValleyYouth/​​

​General Information

Council provides a range of programs for the Region's young people and children, and is interested in hearing from young people about matters of importance to them.

Youth Programs vary from time to time and may include:

  • school holiday activities
  • youth forums
  • leadership development opportunities
  • surveys
  • projects such as skatepark​ upgrades

Events will promoted on the local Events Calendar and the Lockyer Valley Youth Facebook page.
