​​December 2019 & January 2020 School Holiday Program

Don't let cries of boredom dampen ​your school holiday spirit. We've got plenty of fun locked in to keep all our school aged friends occupied this summer.

General Information On School Holiday Activities

​A number of service​s work closely with Council to offer a range of free school holiday programs. Holiday programs are primarily promoted on Council's Facebook the Lockyer Valley Youth FacebookLuvyalockyer What's On website, and are distributed to schools for inclusion in their newsletters.

The range of holiday programs may include: 

  • Skateboard, scooter and parkour workshops (clinics) and competitions
  • Family-friendly Dive-In (pool) Movies and Indoor Movies
  • Youth-only Dive-In Movies
  • Craft and games-based programs organised by Anglicare and local Community Centres
  • Computer, robotics, Lego and craft activities organised by Lockyer Valley Libraries 
  • Adventure-based games and challenges (eg​, high ropes courses with Laidley District State School)​

Skateboard Competition


The 2019 skate competition attracted around 60 competitors from as far as Byron Bay and the Sunshine Coast and offered a prize pool of $1,000. Watch this space for info on the 2020 competition which will coincide with the first inclusion of skateboarding in the Olympics.

Council provides a range of programs for the Region's young people and children, and is interested in hearing from young people about matters of importance to them.

Youth Programs vary from time to time and may include:

  • school holiday activities
  • youth forums
  • leadership development opportunities
  • surveys
  • projects such as skatepark​​​ upgrades

Events will promoted on the local Events Calendar and the Lockyer Valley Youth Facebook page.
