Public Consultation of Draft Planning Scheme Policies

Wednesday 22 November 2023 to Wednesday 20 December 2023

Lockyer Valley Regional Council is undertaking Public Consultation of four Draft Planning Scheme Policies. The following Draft Planning Scheme Policies have been prepared in accordance with the Planning Act 2016 and the Ministers Guidelines and Rules:

The overall purpose and general effect of the Draft Planning Scheme Policies are to support the draft Lockyer Valley Planning Scheme, which was previously advertised. The Draft Planning Scheme Policies will apply to the whole of the Lockyer Valley local government area.

Appendix 1 of Draft Planning Scheme Policy 3 Cultural heritage includes a list of the Local heritage places in the region. This list replicates the current list of Local heritage places under the Gatton Shire Planning Scheme 2007. There is no equivalent list under the Laidley Shire Planning Scheme 2003, and therefore no places within the former Laidley Shire are included in Appendix 1. Council will be commencing a cultural heritage study for the whole of the Lockyer Valley Region in 2024. This study will make recommendations for a new list of Local heritage places, including places within the former Laidley Shire. Public consultation will be undertaken prior to any changes to the list of Local heritage places and any amendment to the Lockyer Valley Planning Scheme to reflect a new list of Local heritage places.

Any person can make a written submission about any aspect of these four Draft Planning Scheme Policies during the public consultation period.

Submissions must be received by Council on or before 20 December 2023.

  • by email to planningscheme@lvrc.qld.gov.au
  • in person at Council’s Customer Contact Centres at 26 Railway Street, Gatton and 6 Spicer Street, Laidley.

Any person may make a written submission about any aspect of the four Draft Planning Scheme Policies during the public consultation period.

Submissions must be received by Council on or before 20 December 2023.

In order to constitute a ‘properly made submission’ under the Planning Act 2016, the submission must:

  • be in writing and signed by each person making the submission (unless made electronically);
  • state the name and residential or business address of each person making the submission;
  • state one postal or electronic address for service relating to the submission for each person making the submission;
  • state the grounds of the submission, and the facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds; and
  • be received by Lockyer Valley Regional Council on or before 20 December 2023.
