Council to use FOGO compost to mark National Tree Day.
It was a stunning winter’s day at Lake Apex, Gatton as Council celebrated National Tree Day by planting a batch of saplings with the help of local community group Friends of Lake Apex (FOLA).
These beauties will not only grow to provide beautiful shade and important homes for our wildlife, but will help clean the air we breathe!
We gave the saplings the best start to life by nourishing them with our magnificent community-generated Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) compost.
Thanks to our wonderful FOGO Trial households, we have diverted 370 tonnes of compostable waste from landfill and transformed it into rich soil to feed our community garden beds.
What a win for the environment and our landfill that’s reaching its capacity!
