Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan
The New Strategy
Council has prepared the draft Waste Management Strategy 2024-2030 that once adopted will act as a framework for sustainable waste management services, leadership and innovation in resource recovery and waste prevention for our region.
The draft Strategy aims to build upon Council’s current waste management strategy and earlier feedback from the community through the survey entitled Community Views on Waste Management.
The draft Waste Management Strategy 2024-2030 is now open for public review and comment until Sunday, 27 October 2024. To view the draft Strategy and make a submission, use the link to visit our Waste Management Strategy Project Page.
Submissions can also be provided in writing at the Gatton or Laidley Customer Service Centres, or posted to Council. A Public Submission Form is available for download here.
The Current Strategy
Council’s current Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan 2019-2022 was adopted at its Ordinary Meeting held on 22 May 2019.
Council has an obligation to review its waste reduction and recycling plan every 5 years under the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011, with this review resulting in the development of a new waste management strategy for the region.
