Japanese Encephalitis Virus

The Lockyer Valley is one of 27 local government areas listed by the Queensland Government as at risk of the Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV).

JEV is spread by infected mosquitos and is preventable, through a combination of personal protective measures and a vaccine which is recommended by Queensland Health to those at risk of exposure to the virus.

To help protect yourself, residents should: wear long pants and sleeves; apply mosquito repellent and empty water-holding objects around the home.

The next Ordinary Meeting of Lockyer Valley Regional Council will be held on Wednesday, 14 May 2025 at the Council Chambers commencing at 9am.

• Plant Operator (Infrastructure Operations) (Full Time, Permanent)
• Roller Operator (Construction) (Full Time, Permanent)

‘Sport for All’ grant program now open

Council is funding a one-off grant round aimed at enhancing inclusive participation of underrepresented groups in sport (e.g. women and girls, older people, people with disability, people of different cultures).

Grants of between $500 and $2000 are available to local not-for-profit sport and recreation clubs to undertake new projects or grow existing projects that enhance inclusive participation.

Applications close 11.59pm, Tuesday 20 May.
