Community groups receive $36k worth of grants

A host of community organisations from the Lockyer Valley will share in more than $36,000 in funding thanks to Council’s Major Community Grants Program.

Fifteen groups were successful in applying for funding under Round 2 of the Major Community Grants Program, which provides grants of $1000 to $4000 to local not-for-profits to deliver initiatives and upgrades that benefit the wider community.

Council’s Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said the aim of the initiative was to provide funding for projects run by not-for-profit community organisations and groups that will create positive social, cultural, and environmental outcomes.

“The successful projects will deliver a huge range of benefits and enrichment to our community, including everything from a new mower, safety gates and equipment, painting community buildings and a water tank.

“I’d like to congratulate all our community organisations and thank them for the tremendous contribution they make.

“If you weren’t successful in this round, please apply for funding for eligible initiatives in the next round opening in August,” Cr Wilson said.

Successful Round 2 applicants include:

• Forest Hill Cricket Club Inc. - $3500 for a zero-turn mower for sustainable ground maintenance.
• Forest Hill School of Arts Inc. - $2500 for a data projector.
• Forest Hill State School P&C - $2000 for band equipment.
• Gatton Baptist Church - $1225 for safety gates and children’s play equipment.
• Gatton Glenore Grove Rifle Club Inc. - $2460 for a cohesive skills program.
• Gatton Pony Club Inc. - $3000 for day yards.
• Gatton Table Tennis Association - $2151 for a barbecue.
• Gatton Uniting Church - $2000 for a fencing project for a child safe environment.
• Hatton Vale Community Uniting - $3620 for a water tank.
• Helidon RSL Sub-Branch Inc. - $2122 for a public address system.
• Laidley Agricultural and Industrial Society Inc. - $1000 for free RSA training for the community.
• Lockyer Equestrian Group - $2110 for sun protection shirts for volunteers.
• Lockyer Valley Veterans Support Centre - $1920 for garden implements.
• Ma Ma Creek Church of Christ - $3700 for the painting of church buildings.
• Uniting Church in Australia Laidley - $2750 for enhancing church events with new tables and gazebos.
