Local author to discuss new novel

Lockyer Valley Libraries will soon welcome another local author for an in-person event later this month.

South-East Queensland author, Elizabeth Rimmington will visit, and residents are encouraged to come along and enjoy this in-person experience.

Elizabeth, who has written six historical fiction/adventure novels with Australian settings, will discuss her latest novel, titled Chill of Blame, that was released last year. Set against the backdrop of the Australian Light Horse's heroic efforts in the Middle East during the First World War, the tale follows the Daley family as they navigate through the consequences of one woman’s destructive obsession. Will peace ever return to the family and friends on Billabong Downs?

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said there was something special about hearing first-hand from a local author.

“We are lucky enough to host Author Talks at both our Gatton and Laidley Libraries.

“This event is a great opportunity for the community to embrace our local authors and support them in their professional endeavours,” she said.

Come along for this Author Talk on Thursday 22 May 2025, first at the Laidley Library at 10am and then at the Gatton Library at 1pm.

It’s certainly a busy time for our Libraries, with last month’s author talk, featuring Stella Quinn proving popular, with 21 people attending.

Stella’s new book A Snowy River Summer is a Rural Romance story about finding love where you least expect it.

“The book is set in a fictional country town, so it was very relevant to attendees.

“It’s been our privilege to host Stella three times now, including two other visits last year, so it was wonderful to see her so well received, yet again,” Cr Reck said.
