Grantham Flood Warning Siren test – this Sunday

Council will undertake a test activation of the Grantham Flood Warning Siren this Sunday, 1 June 2025 (weather permitting) at 12pm.

Residents will hear a siren tone followed by a verbal message informing them to move to higher ground.

The testing process will take about 10 minutes and will include two ‘test’ messages and a ‘live’ message. This is a TEST only and no cause for alarm.

This is a good opportunity for community members to review the flood risks for their family, their personal evacuation plans and consider a range of alternative routes to get to higher ground.

The siren was installed to alert the community to significant flood risks including loss of life. It is not used for low-level flooding in general.

Petchip Scam Warning

The community is being warned to be on alert for an international pet microchip scam.

The scam preys on pet owners by sending fraudulent emails asking for payment for “microchip registration expiration” and threatens pets will be listed as unregistered if the fee is not paid.

Pet owners should note pet microchips DO NOT expire and DO NOT need to be re-registered for a fee.

If you receive a phone call or email from someone claiming to represent Lockyer Valley Regional Council, and are concerned it may be a scam, contact 1300 005 872 to verify with our team.

• Principal Libraries and Galleries (Full Time, Contract)
• Local Laws Officer (Full Time, Permanent)

Lake Apex Entrance Carpark works underway

Works are now underway on the Lake Apex Carpark Entrance.

Council’s Infrastructure crews are undertaking works over a 10-week period (weather permitting) that will see extensive upgrades to future-proof this vital community asset. Works include widening the existing road, constructing a formalised off-street parking and safe turnaround area at the end of the road, upgrading drains, and installing compliant pathways and new signs and pavement markings.

We thank the community for its patience and understanding throughout the construction process.

Lockyer Valley Libraries’ eMagazine (BorrowBox) continues to grow!

There were 801 loans registered in January 2025, a jump from 309 in January 2024.

We hope all Library members continue to enjoy this exciting platform.
