Mismatched pavers in Laidley CBD the result of theft

A section of pavement in William Street, Laidley is being repaved following the theft of pavers from the Laidley CBD.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council has engaged contractors to repave parts of William and Patrick Streets in Laidley where the floods earlier this year caused damage.

Council’s Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said some of the pavers were stolen following Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, and this particular style was no longer available from suppliers.

“We’re currently working with the Police to have the pavers returned, but in the meantime our priority is community safety.

“Given the timing is uncertain and the community needs a safe and accessible footpath, we've opted to install another type of paver until we can find a more permanent solution.

“Most of the repairs will be done using the original pavers, however a small section will be mismatched as the original style of paver is no longer commercially available and previous repairs have exhausted our stock,” Cr Hagan said.
