Stay warm at Lockyer Valley Libraries these school holidays
Looking for a cosy escape from the cooler weather these school holidays? Look no further than Lockyer Valley Libraries!
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor, Julie Reck said the team would again present an actioned-packed list of boredom-busting fun offerings.
“Mid-year school holidays are on the horizon, and the team at Lockyer Valley Libraries will again plate up a host of activities to keep students happy.
“Holiday favourites are back, plus there will be plenty of free activities to keep the fun flowing in the holiday break.
“Balancing work and school holidays is a constant juggling act for parents, and these activities mean you don’t need to bust the bank to do so.
“Start your planning now and remember, places are limited for some events, so book early to avoid disappointment,” Cr Reck said.
Activities on offer include:
- Scavenger Hunt - Gatton and Laidley Libraries from Monday 30 June to Saturday 12 July, all day. Test your sleuthing skills! Go on a scavenger hunt and see if you can discover the missing item. Bookings not required.
- Movie and Colouring - Laidley, Tuesday 1 July, 2pm and Gatton, Friday 11 July, 2pm. Escape the winter chill and join us for a relaxed afternoon of colouring while enjoying a movie. Bookings not required.
- NAIDOC Craft (keyrings) - Gatton and Laidley, Monday 7 to Friday 11 July, all day. Available all week until stock runs out. Drop in and make a NAIDOC keyring. Colour your design, cut it out and make your own stunning keyring. Bookings not required.
- Nature Journalling - Gatton, Tuesday 8 July, 10am. Join artist Megan Forward to create your own nature art journal! Megan will guide you through mindful observation, drawing, painting, and writing practices using mixed media including watercolour, charcoal, chemistry and pencil. For children aged 6-16 years old. Bookings required.
- Raw Art - Gatton, Wednesday 9 July. Explore the properties of clay working with 3D form to create a sculpture. Ages three to six – 9.30am, create a colourful sculpture of a little snail friend. Ages six to 12 - 10.30am, create a quirky kooky monster sculpture. Bookings required.
