Lockyer Valley Regional Council will soon undertake works at the Laidley Memorial Park for the betterment of this vital community facility.
The Laidley RSL Sub-Branch reached out to Council recently for its assistance in facilitating the removal of two hedges, including garden edging and two seats.
Council’s Parks and Gardens Portfolio Councillor, Anthony Wilson said the improvements would enable more room to accommodate crowds come Anzac Day.
“By completing these works, it will allow the RSL to push the Master of Ceremonies area back, which will open the area for increased seating and greater crowd numbers, as well as greater viewing capability at events.
“Removing one of the garden beds means it will be necessary to decommission the power point that is sitting in that garden.
“Anzac Day continues to grow in popularity each year, and it will be great to house even more people at future services, as well as to ensure pedestrian and motorist safety,” Cr Wilson said.
Works are expected to begin and be completed by the end of the month, weather permitting. The public is asked to stay clear of the exclusion zones during the works.
