Laidley Memorial Park works now complete

The Laidley Memorial Park is now set to manage the growing attendances at Anzac Day services after Council crews completed a range of works at the facility.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Parks and Gardens Portfolio Councillor, Anthony Wilson said the Park was a meaningful place for commemoration and reflection and with attendance growing each year, more space was needed to accommodate the crowds.

“Our crews facilitated the removal of two hedges, including garden edging and two seats now to give the memorial site plenty of time to re-grass before the next commemorative services.

“The works now allow the RSL to push the Master of Ceremonies area back, which will mean more room for increased seating and crowd numbers, as well as greater viewing capability at events.

“What they have done will really build on our region’s capacity to recognise and reflect on our servicemen and women.

“The improvements will make a big difference for the community come Anzac Day next year and we look forward to welcoming more crowds at services as a result,” Cr Wilson said.
