Plenty pop into Council pop-ups

Lockyer Valley Regional Council has hailed its series of recent community pop-up events a success.

Council’s Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said connecting with residents resulted in strong local participation.

“It was important for us to reach as many community members as possible, which is why we took these meet-and-greet sessions throughout the region.

“It was a great opportunity to meet residents in an informal way and offer a safe and welcoming space to speak directly with Councillors and Council staff, as well as provide their feedback on important Council projects and learn more about what’s in the works.

“It’s so important for us to not only meet and connect with our residents, but to listen to them too.

“These are discussions for us to take on board and consider when it comes to planning.

“It was wonderful to do that with so many, who were keen to talk about everything from our roads to parks, disaster preparedness to pest management,” she said.

The pop-up stands at both the Laidley and Gatton Shows were very well attended, with more than 200 residents stopping in over the three days.

With a range of upcoming engagements planned in the coming months, Council plans to continue this momentum.

“Community engagement is so important and plays a vital role when it comes to shaping our region and moving forward, so we want to keep these conversations going,” Mayor Milligan said.

The next confirmed pop-ups will be held on:

• Festival of Cultures – Sunday 3 August
• Laidley Spring Festival – Friday 12 and Saturday 13 September
• Stockyard Creek Twilight Markets – Saturday 18 October
