Join us for World Lakes Day!

Lockyer Valley Regional Council is inviting all residents – including community groups, schools and families, to come and plant with us to celebrate World Lakes Day!

Council’s Environment Portfolio Councillor Cheryl Steinhardt said this was your chance to roll up your sleeves and help plant 300 native trees and shrubs to enhance our local environment.

“Each tree that is planted will make a difference towards making our environment healthier and improving local biodiversity.

“We’ll be planting beside a large wetland to provide critical, biodiverse habitat for our local wildlife.

“But this isn’t just a chance to plant a tree – it’s an opportunity to connect with likeminded community members who are all committed to doing their part to contribute to a stronger and greener Lockyer Valley – not just now – but for future generations too.

“This is a family-friendly event, and we would love to see as many people come along as possible,” Cr Steinhardt said.

WHEN: Wednesday, 27 August

TIME: 9am to 12pm

LOCATION: Lockyer Waters Community Centre - 36 Topaz Crescent, Lockyer Waters (meeting place)

All planting equipment will be provided but attendees are asked to please wear a hat, closed-toe shoes, dress for the weather and bring a water bottle. Free morning tea and refreshments will be provided.
