Council’s Share the Dignity Drive now underway

Lockyer Valley Regional Council is proud to once again support the Share the Dignity Drive and has recently kicked off its annual campaign to support the important initiative.

Share the Dignity is an Australian-based women’s charity that distributes female sanitary products to those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough.

Staff and Councillors are eager to get involved and Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Council was also encouraging community members to donate sanitary items to those in need.

“Having to choose between paying rent, feeding themselves and their family or sanitary products is not a choice I want women faced with in 2025.

“Now in its seventh year, this really does align with our commitment to every single woman who calls the Lockyer Valley home.

“I want our residents to know they are supported, and to those thinking of donating, what a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life,” Mayor Milligan said.

All donated items will be provided to the local Salvation Army, where a dedicated team of volunteers will make care packages for local women in need of support.

Community members can support the campaign by donating items in the marked purple bin, located in Council’s foyer in Gatton and the pink bin located in Laidley, until 18 September.

Items can include sanitary items, deodorants, toothbrushes, toothpaste and soaps and must be: sealed in original packaging; no aerosol products; no medication; no food items; and no razors.
