Council urges the community to be careful during bushfire season

Residents, businesses and visitors are reminded that due to heightened fire conditions, everyone needs to understand the current fire warnings for their location and not take unnecessary risks.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said challenging bushfire conditions, including very high fire dangers and higher than average temperatures, also increase risks to the community and urged the community not to be complacent.

“The Queensland Fire Department is the go-to source for official warnings including fire bans and I urge everyone to keep their eye on their website and socials during these heightened conditions.

“Most importantly, every household and workplace should consider their risks and ensure they have a well thought through plan to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

“Whether you live in rural, rural residential or urban areas, you should have a bushfire plan and be ready to implement it if needed.

“Let’s also think of our pets and stock within your bushfire plan and follow all advice given.

“And if you see someone taking unnecessary risks, remind them of any current fire warnings and encourage them to act accordingly.

“We’re asking everyone to do their part - our lives, homes and businesses are relying on it,” Mayor Milligan said.
