Stage 1 works complete for important Laidley road

Stage 1 works on John Street South in Laidley are now complete.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said Stage 2 works will start on Monday, 15 December and go through to Friday, 23 January 2026.

“We certainly appreciate the current state of the road appears incomplete; however, we can assure residents this is very much an intentional stage in the construction process.

“We have deliberately broken the works program into two phases with work to be conducted in school holidays only, where possible, to minimise impacts to the local school community when they are busiest.

“The road remains safe and functional for use, and we encourage all road users to slow down, drive to the conditions and follow any temporary measures in place,” Cr Hagan said.

The works are part of Council’s continued commitment to maintaining and upgrading essential infrastructure.

“This is a major reconstruction project and will go a long way towards improving safety and the long-term future of our road network.

“This road services the St Mary’s Primary School, St Patrick’s Catholic Church and local residents and is regularly impacted by flooding.

“We understand the impact of roadworks, and we appreciate the understanding shown by residents.

“This is about long-term benefits, improved safety, better traffic flow, and infrastructure that supports future growth,” Cr Hagan said.

Once complete, the project will include stormwater upgrades, pedestrian crossing upgrades, footpath Improvements, pavement strengthening, signage and line marking.
