Council to host Capacity Building Workshop next month

Lockyer Valley Regional Council is inviting all local non-profit community groups and sporting clubs to register now for an upcoming capacity-building workshop.

The free event is designed to foster collaboration and encourage sustainability for local community groups.

Council’s Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said the session would be focused on up-skilling community groups so they can build stronger helping them to thrive and continue delivering important and valued services to the community.

“These groups are the heart of our community, and I look forward to seeing a broad cross-section from the community working together to build a better future.

“The free workshop will assist attendees to develop a shared understanding of governance principles, improve their decision-making and strategic planning skills, build capacity within their organisation and plan for the future of their organisation.

“Council’s capacity-building workshops have proven to be very popular in the past and I encourage groups to book in quickly while spots are available,” Cr Wilson said.

Facilitated by Steve Connelly from CPR Group, the workshop will cover:

• governance, incorporation and committees
• cyber security
• Queensland’s new child safeguarding legislation

WHEN: Tuesday, 18 November

TIME: 5.30pm for a 6pm start (8.30pm finish)

LOCATION: Gatton Shire Hall
