Reconstruction works on important local road now complete

Lockyer Valley Regional Council has bolstered road safety along a stretch of Old Laidley Forest Hill Road after securing Black Spots funding.

The finishing touches were put on the project recently, with line marking and new signage signalling its completion.

Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said Council successfully applied for funding under the Australian Government’s Black Spots Program (BSP) to upgrade a 340m section of the road.

“Over a ten-week period, our crews have completed works on a range of improvements to this important road, including a full reconstruction and widening of the existing pavement, culvert replacement, installation of new audio tactile line marking, and updated signage to meet current standards.

“Other key safety measures include removing illegal fencing and widening that section of road to increase overall safety,” he said.

Black Spots projects target dangerous road locations where crashes are occurring or are at risk of occurring.

“Council routinely nominates local roads identified as high risk for funding under the BSP, and we are grateful to receive this support from the Australian Government, which lessens the burden on our ratepayers.

“We are committed to providing a safe and reliable road network and we thank the community for their patience as crews completed these improvements,” Cr Hagan said.

Delivered internally by Council’s Infrastructure Delivery crews, the $484,500 project was proudly funded under the Australian Government’s Black Spots Program (BSP).
