Lake Apex upgrade works completed, Stage 2 about to begin

Stage 1 works at Lake Apex are now complete, and Stage 2 is about to begin.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said the project was all about making sure the Lake Apex precinct catered to diverse user needs.

“So many improvements have been made to make the precinct safer, more accessible, and easier to enjoy for everyone.

“The upgrades feature newly constructed footpaths, two accessible shelters equipped with seating, a widened internal road with a dedicated turnaround bay, freshly sealed carpark, and the addition of new signage, pavement markings, and tree plantings,” Cr Hagan said.

Council’s Infrastructure crews will soon commence further works at the important community facility to improve accessibility and connectivity across the precinct.

Funded under the South East Queensland (SEQ) Liveability Fund, the works will benefit residents and visitors for years to come.

“This project reflects our dedication to investing in our community’s future and we are incredibly grateful to the community for their patience as this next stage unfolds.

“Upgrades will include new footpaths, road signage, pavement markings and landscape works.

“These upgrades are part of Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining Council’s infrastructure and facilities and we thank the community for its cooperation throughout the construction period,” Cr Hagan said.

Works are set to start on Monday, 27 October and will be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.

The project is supported by $830,000 in funding from the Australian and Queensland governments through the SEQ Liveability Fund, one of 29 commitments in the SEQ City Deal. The SEQ City Deal is a partnership between the Australian Government, Queensland Government and Council of Mayors (SEQ) that will deliver long-lasting benefits to the region.
