Council awards more than $45,000 to latest grant recipients
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s latest round of grant funding has injected more than $45,000 into the local community, while also lending a helping hand to a range of local organisations, individuals and community and sporting groups.
Round 1 of Council’s 2025-26 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Grant Program has just awarded $12,600 to successful submitters.
Council’s Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said it was a pleasure to once again provide funding support to such diverse projects.
“RADF is about empowering our local creatives to bring their ideas to life—whether they’re emerging or established artists.
“From theatre and music to sculpture and storytelling, RADF supports a wide range of artistic expression and we congratulate our successful applicants,” Cr Reck said.
The successful projects include:
- Lockyer Regional Performing Arts Inc. - $5838 for Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat;
- Nury Barros - $2170 for Beginner Alcohol Ink Workshops – Colour, Flow & Creative Confidence; and
- Chloe Wigg - $4592 for workshops and floor-talks as a community engagement companion to Oh MG art exhibition on show at the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery. Oh MG is an art exhibition raising awareness for the rare autoimmune disease Myasthenia Gravis (MG).
“Through these projects, RADF is investing in the development of the skills of our artists and storytellers and providing our residents with more access to arts and cultural experiences.
“If you know an organisation or individual who could bring a project to life with the help of an RADF grant, encourage them to be on the lookout for the next round of funding on Council’s socials and website,” Cr Reck said.
Council also awarded Round 1 of its 2025-26 Major Community Grants Program, with 10 not-for-profit sporting and community groups sharing in more than $32,700:
- Corp of the Trustees of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane – Parish Grants - $4000
- Crime Stoppers Queensland Limited - $1042
- Lockyer Information & Neighbourhood Centre, trading as: Community Centre - $4000
- Lockyer Race Club - $4000
- Lockyer Valley Netball Association Inc. - $1927
- Mulgowie Public Hall Association Incorporated - $4000
- Returned and Services League of Australia (Queensland Branch) Laidley Sub Branch Inc. - $3500
- Steve Jones Community Men’s Shed Inc. - $3140
- Withcott & District Progress Association Inc. - $3200
- Withcott Scout Group – The Scout Association of Australia Queensland Branch - $3951
“The funding will be used to install security cameras, purchase a defibrillator, provide community first aid courses, upgrade equipment and offer STEM classes, among other projects.
“We are proud to support individuals and organisations in our local communities with grant funding to help our local groups provide valuable services to our communities,” Cr Reck said.
