Australia Day nominations closing soon!
Time is running out to nominate your local community members and events for Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s 2026 Australia Day Awards.
Council’s Mayor, Tanya Milligan said the window was closing to nominate outstanding members of the Lockyer Valley community for the 2026 Australia Day Awards.
“Our Australia Day Awards recognise the achievements of those who have made a marked contribution to our region, and provide an opportunity to reflect, respect, and celebrate the people who make our community a better place.
“Each year, the Australia Day Awards honour the exceptional efforts of citizens and community events that have enriched community life here in the Lockyer Valley.
“There are many different categories – so why not nominate the fundraisers, community support groups, volunteers, organisations and sporting clubs that make a difference in your life!
“It really is so important to not only acknowledge, but also to celebrate those people who make our community stronger through their tireless efforts.
“With nominations closing on 5 December, this is your chance to recognise the outstanding contributions of individuals and community events and organisations that have made a significant impact on our community,” Mayor Milligan said.
Award categories include:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year (30 years and below)
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year (17 years and below)
- Event of the Year
- Community Organisation of the Year

Nominations for the 2026 Australia Day Awards close 11.59pm Friday 5 December 2025.
