Free entry to celebrate the reopening of the Laidley Pool!

Flood repair works on the Dal Ryan War Memorial Pool in Laidley are now complete – and Council will offer free entry to the facility to celebrate its reopening!

Contractors recently put the finishing touches on the repairs, with the facility set to reopen on Saturday, 15 November, Lockyer Valley Facilities Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said.

“These upgrades were needed to ensure we continue to provide a safe space for our swimmers and families and were essential following multiple floods over the past few years.

“The Laidley Pool suffered inundation to the pump room and the pool itself from flood water, which resulted in the pumps needing to be replaced and tanks drained and cleaned.

“The pool shell was damaged, and this required specialists to repair the fibreglass and the earliest they were able to do this was October.

“We’re grateful they were able to complete the works in such a timely manner.

“The children’s pool was also painted and tiling works completed,” he said.

As a gesture of thanks to the community for their patience, Council is pleased to offer a free swim day on Saturday, 15 November, Cr Wilson said.

“This is something Council has initiated in recognition of the delayed opening for summer.

“We can't wait to welcome swimmers back and we thank the community for their patience while the works were conducted,” Cr Wilson said.
