It’s beginning to look a lot like…Christmas!
The Lockyer Valley will sparkle this festive season, with Council to once again bring back a range of Christmas initiatives to mark the most wonderful time of year!
The Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre, Das Neumann Haus and the Gatton Administration Building will soon sport their very own Christmas tree, set to sparkle throughout the countdown to the big day. Christmas garlands will also be hung on pergolas on Railway Street, Gatton and the Laidley Customer Service Centre.
Excitingly, Council crews (or elves) will again create two whimsical Christmas precincts – Santa’s Workshop, Centenary Gardens, and Candy Land at Das Neumann Haus for the Lockyer Valley to enjoy!
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said she hoped the precincts, lights and decorations would act as a source of joy for the community.
“There really is so much for the family to enjoy this festive season.
“Santa’s Workshop, Gatton and Candy Land, Laidley have been enjoyed for a few years now, so it was a no-brainer to bring them back for Christmas 2025.
“There will be gingerbread houses, light displays and plenty of holiday cheer, so bring along your family, friends and visitors to the region to Centenary Gardens, Gatton and Das Neumann Haus, Laidley," she said.
The region’s youngsters can also send a letter to the North Pole, with special mailboxes, designed just for Santa’s letters, at the Gatton and Laidley Libraries.
Letters posted before 17 December will receive a reply from Mrs Claus, Santa’s elves or even Santa himself!
Lastly, why not get creative with the Christmas colouring competition! Entries are located at the Gatton and Laidley Customer Service Centres and the Lockyer Valley Visitor Information Centre. Winners will be announced at the Lockyer Valley Christmas Carnival on Friday 19 December.
“It’s a jam-packed six weeks of Christmas fun and our hope is to spread as much Christmas cheer to our residents as possible,” Mayor Milligan said.
