Get active these school holidays at the Withcott Sports Centre
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is swinging open the doors to the Withcott Sports Centre, hosting a series of free drop-in and play events throughout January to showcase the upgraded facility.
Council’s Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said it is a great opportunity for kids to get active during the school holidays and make use of the centre.
“We’ve organised several drop-in sessions where a variety of sports, including basketball, futsal, pickleball, netball and badminton, will be available to play,” he said
“We will also be running a Basketball Nights program which will solely focus on basketball.
“No bookings are required, and entry is free, and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate, however, children under 12 years must be supervised by an adult.”
Cr Wilson said this was the perfect chance for people to learn or try a new sport or to see the venue in the flesh.
“The Withcott Sports Centre features a full-sized indoor basketball/multi-sport court, plenty of on-site parking, public toilets and showers, a canteen and much more,” he said.
“The facility is available for exclusive hire for basketball, futsal, pickleball, netball, badminton and volleyball as well as sporting events.
“So, if you’re planning a sports program or event, or you want to grab a group of friends and throw some hoops, train or play a game without worrying about the weather or cost, we encourage you to make use of the facility and to come along to one of our drop-in sessions to find out more.”
