Councillors and staff raise vital funds for charities in 2025

Lockyer Valley Regional Council has once again raised vital funds for charities throughout 2025.

During the year, Council’s Mayor, councillors and staff raised more than $3500 for a host of initiatives, making a difference in the lives of locals and supporting our worthy charities.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the efforts once again demonstrated the personal commitment of councillors and staff to helping our community when they need it most.

“Staff donated a gold coin or more every time they wore pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and blue during Movember, which raised $1700 alone!

“As part of our 2025 ‘Share the Dignity’ drive, we gifted hundreds of female personal care items to the Lockyer Valley Salvation Army, which were made into care packages for women in need.

“In September, Council’s team raised $900 for the Fight Cancer Foundation during the Footy Colours Day initiative.

“Our International Women’s Day Breakfast raised $400 for the Lockyer Valley Salvation Army, and we’re well into planning for this year’s event.

“In addition, councillors and staff bought hundreds of raffle tickets, donated money every time they wore jeans on Fridays, and hosted bake sales to bolster their fundraising tallies.

“This is a wonderful way for staff to give back to the community they live and work in each day.

“I am incredibly proud of our staff for their willingness to make a difference behind the scenes.

“Charities play a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community and our team demonstrates its commitment to being part of the solution by digging deep into their own pockets to support great causes.

“This year, we’re not working towards a fundraising target, but rather working towards making a difference,” Mayor Milligan said.
