Roof works complete at Gatton Administration Building
The Gatton Administration Building will re-open to the public next week following the completion of essential roof repairs.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s front counter services have been operating from a temporary Customer Service Centre at 55 North Street, Gatton, which will close tomorrow afternoon.
Mayor Tanya Milligan said Council staff were looking forward to welcoming customers back to the Railway Street premises.
“I’m pleased to announce that the roof works at the Gatton Administration Building are now complete, and the front counter and customer service operations will revert back to 26 Railway Street at 8.30am on Monday, 2 February,” she said.
“Staff who would normally operate from the Gatton Administration Building will also return to their usual workplace arrangements from this time.
“Our temporary Customer Service Centre will cease operating at 4.30pm on Friday, 30 January.”
It comes after several Council-owned buildings suffered significant hail damage to their roof sheeting in December 2023.
In 2025, insurance-funded roof repairs were conducted at the Withcott Sports Centre, Gatton Shire Hall, Gatton SES Building and the Lockyer Valley Sports & Aquatic Centre. Works at the Gatton Administration Building began in late September and repair works at the Gatton Depot are commencing soon.
Mayor Milligan said the roof replacement involved exclusion zones inside and outside the building, necessitating the establishment of a temporary Customer Service Centre.
“To ensure customer and staff safety, we established the temporary Customer Service Centre and Gatton Administration Building staff were relocated across different locations for the duration of the works,” she said.
“Council operations continued with minimal disruptions, and we thank the community for their patience and understanding, which made this complex yet necessary project that much easier.”
Council Meetings, which were conducted at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre during the works, will resume at the Council Chambers inside the Gatton Administration Building on Wednesday, 18 February.
