Partnerships benefit Australia Day recipients

Winners of Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s 2026 Australia Day Awards received a handmade wooden pen, thanks to the handiwork of the Lockyer Woodcrafters in Forest Hill.

Council and the Lockyer Woodcrafters once again joined forces for this yearly tradition, one Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said she was thrilled to have continued into another year.

“The Lockyer Woodcrafters donated pens for all Award winners, and it was lovely to gift them something both useful and meaningful.

“Our winners also received a tote and small painted canvas from local Indigenous artist Stephen Hogarth.

“Together, these gifts are the perfect way to mark their achievements, and I can’t thank the Woodcrafters, and Stephen enough for their generous donation of time.

“Their work is always outstanding, and to have the pens sourced from Lockyer Valley wood seems only fitting.

“The recipients and their families were incredibly thankful to receive these at the 2026 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony.

“Council also appreciated the support from local businesses with catering and AV production to ensure the event was of the highest quality.

“Partnerships such as these are at the core of our community and what better day to put a spotlight on them!” Mayor Milligan said.
