Make a difference on Clean Up Australia Day

The call out for Clean Up Australia Day is back again, with registrations now open for this year’s event.

Council’s Environment Portfolio Councillor Cheryl Steinhardt encouraged everyone to show pride in our region and get involved.

“Attending or organising a clean-up event is a great way to spend time with your community, while at the same time playing an important part in maintaining the health of our environment.

“Our residents know what lending a hand is all about so I’m confident we’ll once again see a great turnout for this important event.

“Let’s all think beyond what’s in our own backyard and lend a hand to contribute to a cleaner future.

“If there’s not a clean-up event near you or you know of a litter hot spot, why not register a clean-up yourself?

“Registration is free for communities and schools and includes a free Clean Up kit with everything you need to run a safe and successful event. You just need to allow 10 business days to receive your kit, so don’t delay!

“We are so fortunate to be surrounded by such a beautiful natural environment, so it’s important that we all do our part to make sure it is kept clean and free of rubbish.

“Let’s all come together and make a real difference,” Cr Steinhardt said.

Clean Up Australia Day will be held on Sunday 1 March. Those in attendance are encouraged to be sun safe and be mindful of sharps and sharp objects.
