Balance the Scales this International Women’s Day
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s International Women’s Day celebrations will unpack what it means to “Balance the Scales” – and you’re invited to come along.
Tickets for the event are now on sale, to be held on Thursday 5 March 2026 at the Gatton Shire Hall in North Street, Gatton.
Council will welcome Guest Speaker Kerri MacMahon, a local adventurer who has circumnavigated Australia, to its International Women’s Day celebration breakfast for 2026.
Throughout her life, Kerri has worked to remove barriers, embrace possibility and create a fairer, more inclusive world. Kerri will share the lessons she has learned on the water and how these can open new horizons for women and girls.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan, said it was sure to be an inspiring morning.
“Balance the Scales is all about the need for a fairer justice system, which is so important for our women and girls. They need to grow up in a world where they know they can have a voice – and be safe when they use it.
“Kerri is a familiar face for many in the region, and I know those in attendance will get a lot out of hearing her story.
“My hope is for everyone in attendance, including men, to see that when we support one another, we can all rise together,” Mayor Milligan said.
Doors open at 6.30am for a 7am start. Pre-purchase your tickets ($25, no tickets at the door) until 12pm Monday 2 March at lockyervalleytickets.com.au.
Raffle tickets will be available on the day, with proceeds going to Kintsugi Ministries, which provides financial, mental and spiritual support to first time mothers and mothers-to-be with no means of their own.
