Agriculture trickle tape (t-tape) disposal recommences

Lockyer Valley farmers and irrigators have been given the green light to recommence the disposal of their used t-tape, following a temporary pause in operations by Council’s t-tape recycler, Australia Sunlight Group (ASG).

Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Waste Management Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said the service would recommence at the Gatton Waste Facility on Fords Road effective immediately.

“The pause occurred when ASG relocated its facilities, triggering the need for a development approval and Environmental Authority to operate its recycling activities.

“ASG has now been approved to recycle t-tape at its new Swanbank facility and has worked to clear the existing stockpile from the Gatton Waste Facility,” Cr Reck said.

To ensure Council remains within approved stockpile limits set by the State Government, a temporary disposal limit of 5 tonnes or 3m³ (whichever is greater) per customer, per day applies.

“Farmers are encouraged to tightly roll their t-tape to maximise the amount they can dispose of and to increase the capacity of the stockpile at our facility.

“Other pre-existing disposal conditions for t-tape remain unchanged — the material must be free from contamination such as soil and plant matter, as contaminated loads are classified as general waste and directed to landfill, which will attract fees.

“We thank our farming community for their patience and cooperation over the past 12 months while this matter was being resolved,” Cr Reck said.
