Revamp coming for popular Withcott park

A popular park in Withcott is set to score a brand-new playground!

Jean Biggs Park will soon boast a range of new equipment, to be ready for the community by mid-2026 (weather permitting).

Council’s Parks and Gardens Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said while there would be no changes to the existing equipment, new equipment would soon be added, with works set to begin early next month.

“The much-loved local park will get a range of new play equipment – including all accessibility friendly zip-line, fitness equipment and more.

“There will also be fresh landscaping, new walkways, updated seating and benches, new rubber softfall and mulch, as well as a refreshed half court.

“Previous consultations with the local community and disability advocates have helped determine the upgrades, so these additions will ensure it better meet the needs of local families and park users.

“The upgraded facilities will cater for families, sports and recreation groups, while at the same time promoting healthy, active lifestyles.

“It’s great to have works about to begin for this important upgrade, and I thank the Queensland Government through its 2024-27 South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program for helping to make this possible.

“Council also acknowledges the significant initiative and contribution of the Withcott community, coordinated through the Withcott & District Progress Association, which has raised funds and advocated for this project,” Cr Wilson said.

The playground will be closed and access to surrounding areas may be restricted while the works are happening, with onsite signage to keep the community informed of the project timelines and progress.

This project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s 2024-27 South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program.
