Laidley facility scoops top five ranking
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Queensland Government Agent Programme (QGAP) in Laidley has ranked fourth busiest out of the 26 QGAP locations in the state!
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the Laidley QGAP played a vital role in the region.
“QGAPs really are one-stop shops for government services in rural Queensland communities, and like this one in Laidley, are often delivered by councils.
“It is so important we have a platform to continue to offer these vital services to our community, and I really want to give a shout out to the committed staff who work tirelessly to serve our community at the Laidley Customer Service Centre.
“The Laidley QGAP continues to be a high performing and well utilised service centre within the region.
“The team processed 4000 QGAP transactions, in addition to Council services, over the past 12 months alone.
“This strong performance highlights Laidley QGAP’s critical role in providing accessible, high‑quality frontline services to the Lockyer Valley community,” Mayor Milligan said.
The team processes an average of 330 transactions each month, supporting a wide variety of essential State Government services, including:
- Vehicle registration and Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance
- Birth, death and marriage certificate applications
- Bond Loan and Rental Grant Assistance applications
- Disability Parking Permit processing
- SPER (State Penalties Enforcement Registry) payments
- Issuing Heavy Vehicle Work Diaries
Council’s Information Management Advisor Trevor Greaves previously worked in the QGAP office in 2002 and recalls manually sighting engine and VIN numbers.
“Given the long list of services on offer we were always busy, but vehicle-related transactions were at the top.
“We were often in, around and under various vehicles from cars, motorcycles, trucks to prime movers and kept the tape measure handy to record the dimensions of all sorts of trailers, caravans and semi-trailers.
“Customers really appreciated the variety of services on offer, and I enjoyed the variety the role offered - one minute we could be looking in an engine bay and next it’s helping a customer complete their will or power of attorney.
“Our popularity grew even more when we gained approval to stock and provide registration plates. Many customers would travel to the Laidley QGAP because of our great service compared to longer waiting times at the bigger centres,” Mr Greaves said.
QGAP services can be accessed within the Laidley Customer Service Centre at 9 Spicer Street, Laidley during business hours.
