Free QTM Open Day is on soon!
The Queensland Transport Museum (QTM) will swing open its doors later this month for a free Open Day – and you’re invited to come along.
Celebrating all things military transport, heritage and community, the QTM Open Day will coincide with Gatton’s Heritage Festival celebrations – rolling two fantastic events into one.
Council’s Tourism Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck encouraged locals and visitors alike to come along to explore an impressive line-up of original military vehicles - dating all the way back to World War I.
“Step back in time for a fun, family-friendly day packed with history, horsepower and hands-on experiences.
“There will even be the legendary 1941 GMC 6x6 ‘truck that won the war,’ the rare Australian Dingo Scout Car, the powerful Saracen Armoured Personnel Carrier, and the rugged Desert Raider.
“Also on offer will be guided tours, live entertainment and kids’ activities throughout the morning.
“These events are perfectly timed to coincide with the last weekend of the Easter school holiday break, so bring the family and come along to this free event,” Cr Reck said.
From 10.30am, The Gowrie Gals will have a special, three-hour roving performance with beautiful three-part harmonies inspired by WWII troop entertainers.
The costumed trio will mingle with guests and bring the spirit of the 1940s to life with charm, energy and plenty of vintage flair.
