Rural Land Management Planning workshop set for next month
An upcoming Rural Land Management Planning Workshop will uncover everything you need to know about developing individual property management plans.
Hosted by Healthy Land & Water, Council’s Environment Portfolio Councillor Cheryl Steinhardt said the free workshop would provide information, tools and support to help land managers develop individual property management plans and up-to-date maps for their property.
“Led by experts from Healthy Land & Water, this session will equip you with best practice knowledge and skills to manage your property.
“There are so many intricacies when it comes to managing your property effectively and efficiently, be it identifying and managing land types and soils, mapping your property assets and infrastructure correctly and implementing correct soil conservation principles,” Cr Steinhardt said.
Other highlights will include:
- Recognising land and soil types on your property to enable you to identify their limitations on productivity.
- Identifying and mapping grazing land types, paddocks and key natural features.
- Mapping important property infrastructure such as fence lines, water points and fire tracks.
- Soil conservation principles and plans to maximise infiltration and reduce erosion.
- Accessing the latest vegetation management information for your property.
- Considering key risks – environmental, climate, biosecurity, production, and financial to develop strategies and action plans for your business.
