Warm up at Lockyer Valley Libraries these school holidays
Lockyer Valley Libraries’ winter line-up of school holiday fun will spark creativity and keep kids entertained.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor, Julie Reck said anyone searching for a cosy escape should look no further than Lockyer Valley Libraries!
“We’re always committed to offering a range of free and low-cost activities across the region.
“We’re encouraging families to start your planning now and remember, places are limited for some events, so book early to avoid disappointment.
“Our region is a great place for families, and our school holiday programs are all about giving kids the chance to try something new, stay busy and enjoy their time off,” Cr Reck said.
Activities on offer include:
- Scavenger Hunt - Gatton and Laidley Libraries from Monday 29 June to Friday 10 July, all day. Test your sleuthing skills! Go on a scavenger hunt and see if you can discover the missing item. Bookings not required.
- Magic and Messy Morning - Gatton Library, Tuesday 30 June 9.30am (for a 10am magician performance). Enjoy a performance from the hilarious, mystifying kids’ magician, Mr Fye! Join Lockyer Valley Libraries with community groups from the Lockyer Valley as we have a magical time in the library.
- LEGO Minute Masters - Gatton Library, Wednesday 1 July at 10am and Laidley Library, Tuesday 7 July at 10am. Let’s have a few laughs trying to complete LEGO challenges. Can you build the tallest tower, sort the most LEGO by colour, or use chopsticks to pick up the most pieces? You have one minute!
- Mythical Creature Paper Puppets - Laidley Library, Thursday 2 July at 10am and Gatton Library, Thursday 9 July at 10am. In this hands-on activity, children will create a mythical hand-puppet inspired by unicorns and dragons.

- Escape the Comic (AFTER DARK) - Gatton Library, Thursday 9 July from 5.30pm – 6.30pm. You are stuck in a comic, and the only way to escape is to draw yourself free. Don’t worry, you only need to be able to draw stick figures. It’s not dangerous. Wait a minute – it’s very dangerous! Join graphic novelist Trent Jamieson as you explore the world of graphic novels. Ages 8 – 12, $5 per child.
