Lockyer Valley Regional Council is inviting the community to nominate individuals, organisations, and teams for the 2027 Australia Day Awards.
Council’s Mayor, Tanya Milligan said this was a chance to think about someone who inspires you and whose efforts deserve recognition.
“Be it fundraising efforts, sporting achievements, or volunteer-based work, we want to hear about your efforts.
“Our region has an array of people from all different walks of life achieving great things and we are so lucky to have those who devote their time and energy to making our community a better place to live.
“You might know someone who coaches a sporting team, helps to raise funds for a deserving cause, or represents our region on the sporting field, and it is these residents who play a pivotal role in our community and inspire those around them, often without even realising it.
“We want to be able to recognise these community members for their contributions, so we’re encouraging everyone to submit a nomination and help us say thanks,” she said.
Award categories include:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Event of the Year
- Community Organisation of the Year
“If you know anyone you think deserves an Australia Day Award or recognition, now is your time to jump on and nominate those people,” Mayor Milligan said.
