Lockyer Valley Regional Council has donated a portion of ticket sales from the Queensland Transport Museum (QTM) to a local charity.
Council’s Mayor, Tanya Milligan today handed over a cheque for more than $7600 to Bootstraps Veterans Charity.
The organisation offers a place where people can go for social connection, learn a new skill, make their own custom items and meet new friends.
Mayor Milligan said the QTM’s pivot to a feature military exhibit in April 2025, thanks to the passion and generosity of local military collector Russell Tattam was behind this new initiative.
“Council and the QTM Advisory Committee both recognised an opportunity to support a local military community organisation through a charitable partnership that was linked to both museum visitation and events.
“Bootstraps plays an important role in supporting veterans, vulnerable individuals and families within the Lockyer Valley community.
“Donating $7600 today is a considerable amount for a very deserving local cause and it’s wonderful to be able to give something back.
“This initiative really highlights how local tourism and community activations can deliver broader social benefits by supporting community organisations, while at the same time encouraging visitation to the region,” Mayor Milligan said.
Under the partnership arrangement, a portion of QTM ticket sale proceeds were allocated as a charitable contribution to Bootstraps. The one-year agreement between QTM and Bootstraps has now concluded, with the final charity payment being processed.
